Veerey ki wedding is a Bollywood romantic comedy drama film starring Sharman Joshi and Kriti Sanon set in the city of Jodhpur. Directed by Ashutosh Gowariker and produced by Yash Raj Films, the film follows a wedding between two families from different backgrounds which leads to misunderstanding. For this movie, music direction was done by Narendra Singh who had previously provided music for Prem Ratan Dhan Payo with similar directorial style. The trailer also shows the chemistry between Sharman Joshi and Kriti Sanon. The first look of Veerey Ki Wedding was released on 12 July 2015. As per the IndiaTimes, Veerey Ki Wedding has been titled as "Guddu ki wedding" as it is a sequel to Guddu Ki Gun on the same location on the Rajasthan-Gujarat border. Veerey ki wedding is a romantic love film directed by Ashutosh Gowariker on a budget of Rs 20 crore and distributed by Yash Raj Films. It was first announced in May 2015 with a release date of 23 May 2015 but later it was pushed to 22 May 2016 for an earlier release date. It has been shot in Jodhpur on a 35 acres set of the Gajner Palace. It is Yash Raj Films’ first movie to be released in 4K resolution. The film is produced by Aditya Chopra under Yash Raj Films banner while Ashutosh Gowariker has directed the film. The soundtrack of the film has been composed by Narendra Singh Sngar with lyrics written by Abhendra Kumar Upadhyay, Sanjeev Chaturvedi, Rishi Sabri and Iqbal Qureshi. It was announced that Sharman Joshi will play the male lead in this movie and Kriti Sanon will play his female counterpart. This will be Kriti Sanon's second film after her debut, which was a hit. It was announced that the film will shoot for a week in Jodhpur and a week in Mumbai. On Valentine's Day, Yash Raj Films released the first look of the movie with Kriti Sanon who would be seen as Veer's love interest. It was confirmed by Sharman Joshi that he would be playing Guddu Khanna who is Veer Pratap Singh’s cousin in the sequel of Guddu Ki Gun. “Yes, I am playing Guddu Khanna in ‘Veerey Ki Wedding’ and both films are connected to each other through this character. It’s a family drama,” he said. The movie was released on 22 May 2016. The movie opened to very okay reviews especially Rishi Kapoor's performance in which he played an eccentric grandfather of Veer Singh played by Sharman Joshi. Critics praised the chemistry between Sharman Joshi and Kriti Sanon but on the other hand it was panned for its weak story line, predictable plot and poor direction by Ashutosh Gowariker. The total opening day collection on India Box Office was 11 million which is too less for a YRF film of this nature.
